Jeffreys Bay has always been known for its beautiful shells and its Shell Museum is home to more than 600 shells from species all over the world, making it one of the largest shell collections in South Africa and attracts shell fanatics from all over the globe.

Housed in glass cases, the huge variety of shells includes the legendary cowry, the rare paper nautilus, tiny baby jam tarts and a new species of cone. Local shells and shell craft can be purchased just outside the museum from shell shops and stalls, run by the famous Jeffreys Bay “shell ladies”.
